Dr. Morien recently published Infectious and Communicable Skin Diseases. This well-written book contains information on common bacterial, fungal and viral skin diseases encountered in the massage therapy clinic. It is full of practical and interesting information, such as signs, symptoms, contraindications, and “what to do” if accidental contact is made with a client’s skin condition.
Dr. Morien also wrote Infectious and Contagious Diseases — A Reference Guide for Manual Therapists. This four-page reference guide is a concise, practical summary of the most common diseases that the massage therapist may encounter in the clinic. It is packed with over 45 different conditions, such as abscesses, herpes, scabies, shingles and more. Each condition clearly states whether standard, contact, airborne or droplet precautions are used. All information is current and practical, and based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
